In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Say: O disbelievers!
I do not worship what you worship.
And you do not worship what I worship

This surah expresses disgust with the actions of the polytheists and dispels the hope of the disbelievers that the Muslims will ever compromise with them in matters of their religion and worship of Allah.

Consistency with Surah Al-Kawthar

The compatibility of Surah Kafirun with its predecessor Surah Al-Kawthar is that in Surah Kawthar, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was commanded to continue worshiping Allaah, and in Surah Kaafir it was commanded that he Addressing the disbelievers, declare that I will worship only my Lord and I will never worship the idols that you worship.
